A certified Wayfinder Coach is trained in Dr Martha Beck’s specific methodology which focuses on helping you to uncover your own inner compass.  Instead of pushing you towards some random goal, or a goal which you believe is what society expects of you, Wayfinders are trained to use the Change Cycle Model to help you untangle all the stuff that’s holding you back from your true path, your own unique ‘right life’ that is often hidden deep down inside you.

Wayfinder coaches help you find your own way forward

A Wayfinder coach, using Martha Beck’s approach, teaches you to tune into your own personal wisdom.  We are not going to hand you the answers; instead, we’ll guide you to find them yourself.  In a world that is constantly spinning, we help you learn to trust your gut and take action that feels genuinely inspired, created from you and for you, not in any way forced or contrived.

The Change Cycle Model offers a nuanced perspective on the often-messy reality of personal and professional transformation. Forget linear progression; we recognize that any significant personal development or shift initiative isn’t just about setting KPIs and executing a plan – there is a deeper, more organic process at play.

The Change Cycle outlines four predictable stages of change; beginning with an initial awareness of a period of disorientation or ‘unravelling’ (square one), moving into a phase of dreaming and scheming where you spend time imagining and establishing what the way forward looks like (square two).  Implementation comes next and the mantra for this phase is ‘it’s harder than it seems but that’s ok’ (square three) and finally you enter the last stage of the change cycle which Martha calls ‘the promised land’ where you sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour – often before the next round of change comes at you.

You can be at any stage of the change cycle in different areas of your life but even just knowing there is a cycle to change is useful when you consider the resistance we often have to change, how progress can plateau (been stuck in the messy middle anyone?) and the underlying psychological and emotional currents that often dictate the success or failure of our transformative endeavors - in both our personal and professional lives.

Coach trainees are taken on their own journey of transformation to become a certified Wayfinder coach, it’s a ‘live it to give it’ experience.   We go through the same steps we take you through to figure out our own obstacles (and the various ways to overcome them) and finding our own unique path to be able to help you find yours.

And the reason we're called Wayfinders?

Martha calls us Wayfinders after the great Polynesian explorers who crossed the mighty Pacific Ocean centuries ago using nothing but the stars, wind and sea currents, and other navigational cues developed and honed from their innate knowledge of the environment around them. And that’s what we help you unearth – your very own personal built-in compass.

"We're not going to hand you the answers; instead, we'lll guide you to find them yourself."

If you’re interested to know more about the unique Wayfinder Coaching process and how it can be applied to your unique situation, give me a call.  I’d be more than happy to chat.
